Mike here. It’s been a quiet Sunday for us. We stayed in bed listening to the wind howling. We had a couple of days with strong winds from the west and today they switched and came roaring in from the coast. I hung some washing outside and kept having to add more clothespins. Finally, I just gave up and brought them inside. Today was a good day to keep the fire going.
We were glad to find out that our neighbor, Paul, did not suffer from any long-lasting effects from his snake bite. Margaret did find a snake on the path by the house and we nudged it along. I am much more cautious when I’m outside.
This week our 3rd in Italy is all about settling in, finishing unpacking and rearranging furniture and making more room for our stuff. Our neighbors dropped by the portico on Friday afternoon, and we brought out the wine and Baileys until the wind picked up and everybody went home. We managed for the 2nd Friday in a row to have an early dinner of fresh pork sandwiches and beer. One of these days we will find a pizza place.
Our local pharmacist was able to refill our prescriptions and that was another item on our getting settled checklist.
Our big activity is coming up on Tuesday. We have our appointments at the Questura (police station) to present our paperwork for our permission to stay (permessio di sogiorno). We get fingerprinted and may have a house visit to confirm that we are actually living here. It might take a while to get the actual id card but the receipt from our visit will serve in the meantime. Pamela, the owner, had left a Canon printer and we needed to use it to put the finishing touches on our paperwork for Tuesday. We had laid in a supply of ink and needed it. We used Youtube to figure out how to change the ink.
