Wednesday March 30, 2022 – Part 2
Before I forget, a note about things I put in my checked bag that I was unsure of.
I packed a hoodie and a well-loved pair of Wrangler jeans at the last minute. I hesitated on these two because it did not fit with what I remembered from our earlier trips up by Venice. And, of course, Margaret gave me the raised eyebrow over bringing them but our daughter, Maureen, suggested that I bring them “just in case”. But I wear them both in this cold March weather. Casalanguida is a farming area and for sure the jeans fit in and the hoodie did not raise any eyebrows. But my full-brimmed rancher hat did get some second looks. Wearing all three every day.
I also packed a small stash of tools, a 4-in-1 screwdriver, pliers, putty knife, fold-up metric allen wrench set and a sharpener for a pocketknife. All have been used this first week.
And finally, for years we’ve used a bedside LCD alarm clock that is simple to use and shows the temperature and humidity in the bedroom. I checked and it was dual voltage, so I packed it. The main bedroom here has no windows and is completely dark. The clock provides enough illumination to let us find the doors (2 half width doors) and make our way and back for midnight bathroom trips. Last night it told us that the bedroom was 57 degrees F (14 C) and 71% humidity, No wonder the bed sheets were cold and felt damp. We both shivered as we slid into bed.
