Mike here. Wednesday was a significant day for us. First we drove to Lanciano for our deferred meeting/interview at the Questra (police station). Our first meeting was postponed as they were too busy with a couple of Ukrainian families. We must have gotten positive Karma from that first meeting as the second meeting was uneventful and we did not have to produce any additional documentation. But Margaret and I were prepared anyway with a backpack full of the original submission information.
Secondly, our neighbors, Giuseppi and Angela, put on an Italian feast for our group on the hill. She cooked for 10 and produced course after course followed by sweet course after sweet course and after dinner drinks. It was a wonderful evening and made me personally realize that I needed to get back to studying Italian.
The weather here is getting warmer but remains windy. Our stone cottage is reluctant to give up the spring chill and we still use the kitchen fireplace in the evening. We plan on getting out next week and do some exploring. There are Roman Baths and ruins in Vasto and we will try to get there on Monday plus Margaret found a Expat event in Altopiano di Navelli and we go up there at the end of the week as well.
Margaret has mentioned that we will be keeping an eye on a neighbor’s house and property. That will give us double views, East to the Adriatic and West across a valley to Gissi high on the hilltop plus a grove of Olive trees to wander in. Another neighbor was surprised by a small poisonous snake in an outdoor sink and called us to remind us to be careful, especially in the wood shed.
